Ghost Ranch: Sunday/Monday

WHAT BENNIE'S BEEN DOING: Week 11 (New Mexico)

Part 2B: Ghost Ranch Sunday/Monday

Sunday Morning, November 11, we worshiped in the great cathedral of earth and cliff and sky as we hiked the Kitchen Mesa Trail. With light snow forecast for mid-afternoon, we started right after breakfast.

On the way to the Trail Head... Partly Cloudy with Blue Skies!

More BIG Rocks Along the Way :)
Remember Jesus talking about the rocks shouting the Glory of God?!
We could hear this one loud & clear!
It's getting cloudier :(

But still partly clear the other direction :)

Climbing Up, Up, Up!!!

Beautiful Rest Stop on Kitchen Mesa Trail!

It started snowing light flurries, so we headed back down :(
We got back to the ranch before the light snow started. On the way we snapped a few pics of the Ghost Ranch sheep :)

After a while, the weather cleared up. David opted to stay in and read, but I headed back out to see if I could climb Chimney Rock before dark.

Pretty Cloudy at First...

Eventually the skies began to clear some...
Snow on the mountains at the horizon...
Pretty Clear by the time I got to the Top :)

That said, it did start some more snow flurries pretty soon after I made it to the top, so I quickly headed back down to meet David for dinner.  And, it did snow overnight... so, this is what Ghost Ranch looked like Monday morning!

Because of the snow, we allowed extra time to drive to Albuquerque to catch our plane home. Fortunately, we didn't fly out until mid-afternoon, so we made it in plenty of time with one last stop for Mexican food at Garcia's!

Tamale, Enchilada & Taco with both red & green chili sauce - YUM!!!!!

Unfortunately, however, a mid-afternoon flight out of Albuquerque with the time zone changes and connecting flight in Dallas, we didn't make it home until about 1:30 Tuesday morning!  That said, it is always good to be back in our Old Kentucky Home :) And, Jack was so happy to be home, he wouldn't leave the shoe basket all afternoon - because shoes smell like mama and daddy!!!

Jack loving mama and daddy's shoes :)

So, friends, this is the last installment of all the world traveling David and I did on this Sabbatical journey. I will write at least one more post later this week about what I have been doing since I returned from New Mexico. This afternoon I am headed to Loretto, Kentucky for spiritual direction and preparation to return to ministry this Sunday.  What an incredible experience this has been - and, that is quite an understatement!

Thank you, thank you, thank you...
